Sweet Potato Fries

"uuuuuh yeaaaaaaaaa, im gonna need for you to come in tomorrow, uuuuh yeaaaaaaaa" if you ever watch office space, you know what im talking about. I Went to the troubadoure on sunday night to check out a couple of bands with tristenjoydivision. The show was definetly worth 10 dollars. unfortunatly TG had to pay 20 bucks through ticketmaster, but its all good cause at the end of the night we were prized with sweetpotatoe fries from Cafe 101 in hollywood!

Monsters Are Waiting

Review by Giant Robot-
Onstage, Monsters Are Waiting ooze tension and star power with the dueling elements of its bass-driven grooves and Annalee Fery's playful vocals and demeanor. On this self-released debut, the L.A. band does not disappoint in its delivery of dark-but-sweet melodies with '80s undertones. But don't expect gimmicky keyboard flashes or goth theatrics. On song like the sinewy "Ha Ha" or sassy "Don't Go," the tone is pure class, kind of like a more subdued Altered Images. And when fery sings "wake me, take me" on "christine," it's not needy, but bold. Monsters Are Waiting is destined to make the jump front the knee-high stages of neighborhood bars to opening for big-headed headliners from Europe, and hopefully. they'll completely
bypass pay-to-play hell.

Dirty Little Secret

“Dirty Little Secret has been described as mixing artsy attitude and pop sensibility to form a musical melting pot that references rock classics such as The Pixies, Kraftwerk, Laurie Anderson, and The Clash. Louis (singer/guitarist) and James (bassist) formed Dirty Little Secret in the summer of 2002. Their history stretches back to high school when they became best friends, doing everything together from ditching school to skateboarding to song writing.

well i guess thats it for now. More show's coming up in the future. check out -monsters are waiting- for sure! they put on a really good show and their sounds are deliciously snackable. Giant Drag displays a great performance with funny skits in between songs. Their songs is like eating pazookies after sex, its just that good!, and if you've never had a pazookie, you need to crawl out from under that rock and get your ass to bj's brewery and get up on that!

new job

My current office job with a window view of the 405 freeway.

I applied to a company called ESI in woodland hills. I was interviewed by 3 people and all of them were laid back and cool as hell. Everything went good. Today @ 1:30pm i got a call from benny asking me if i was still interested in working with them. of course i said yes and he said he will call me later to find out what my salary will be. so i guess this means i got another job. I will be a tech support for their company which is fine with me cause it seems more laid back than doin data entry. i just hope i get paid as much as my current job.

So with this new job in mind i need to figure a way to keep my current job as graphic designer and somehow get paid per advertisement i design than getting paid hourly. Lets just hope the owner (who looks like a 70's italian pimp) will give into my request and i get to keep 2 jobs going.

time to celebrate...

close call

another night in hollywood. I drive out to chez's crib to start off the night early with a cup of coke and splash of rum. We watch the lakers victory game and knew it was gonna be a good night. Too bad for the people living below chez cause i was jumping up and down with cheer and laughter. An old guy knocks on the door and complains. what can i say... the lakers won!

we head out to hollywood to meet my boy bojo and co-worker at the "underground" parking lot. We chilled in his car for a good 1 1/2 hours, drinking and "rhyming" to beats. notice the qoutes, haha yea we suck. By 11:45 the river girls show up from their long trek from riverside and we head out to a discrete club accissible only by walking around the main building through a dark alley. We walk in without showing ID's cause i told the bouncer the week before that i was gonna bring a handful of females. so we walk in like VIP status. All i gotta say is that club is "grindin"!

Drinks are flowing through our veins, we decide to go bar hopping from the alley club to beauty bar and our last destination, star shoes. Good music everywhere! i was actually surprised how uncrowded star shoes was. But we made the best of it, that for damn sure. The clock hits 1:30 and we walk all the way to hollywood and highland to meet up the homey wally. damn it was a good thing we walked to sober up.

We says our goodbyes and head back to the valley. We are hungry, so we search for a 24hour fast food joint. chez decides to get some gas and for some reason i had a small bottle of jagermeister and put that in my pocket. we leave the gas station and stop at a red lgiht down the street. we see a cop on the cross street and chez said "oh shit my lights are off", he turns it on and the light turns green. we drive a couple hundred yards and what do you know. the cop runs the red and drives right behind us, flashes his lights and pulls us over.

OH SHIT! im fucking panicking and all this bullshit is running through my head. are we gonna be in the drunk tank tonight? is she gonna notice that jager in my pocket? is chez gonna get arrested and get his car impounded? Well she walks up to the car and ask chez for his driver's license. no problem.

Then she asked "have you been drinking tonight?" chez says "no" the cop flashes her light all over the car checking for anything suspicious and tell chez "take off your glasses and your pants" haha actually she said "pull off you glasses and follow the black part of my ball point pen" she holds it about 1ft away from his face and quickly jerks it to the right and chez follows the pen. Then she says "I guess you didn't drink tonight, have a nice day and turn on your lights" when i heard those words, i was confused and happy. The cops walk back to their car and drive off. At that point me and chez are screaming like little school girls that just saw justin timberlake. fuck we were lucky. i was just amazed.

we ended up at del taco for good FRIDAY the 13th early breakfest.

club spaceland

There is a venue in silverlake called "spaceland". Go check it out www.clubspaceland.com They have free shows every monday night. I guess its just another night added to the list of "what to do tonight" and free is always a good thing.

We checked out a band called VIVA K.
www.myspace.com/vivak

"...a fantastical, bohemian outfit of digital dreams. Siouxsie-type vocals captivate and ooze over swirly, echoed guitars reminiscent of when U2 were cool, while the drums dance and the synthesizers bleep and blip in a catchy new-wave pulse, leaving the bands secret weapon, the sitar, to flavor each song with a bit of Middle Eastern flair. Viva Ks enchanting and addicting vibe is the most legal, mind-expanding drug youll ever experience." Kat Jetson LA Weekly

I thought they were not that bad. Lots of potential but no stage presence. Seemed like each member of the band were in their own world. The Front singer had a very monotone voice and we couldn't understand one word she said. I guess we were too close to the speakers. Their Beats are very good but i can see lots of improvement between instruments and vocals.

2005 and sugar

2005 was the year of concerts, OC freakfest, Hollywood nights, meeting lots of new friends, progressing myself in surfing skateboarding and photography, relationship dilema and trying to find out what all of this means.

I got to see these awsome People Perform live in front of my eyes in 2005.
